The Clinic
Each year, KC Flight opens its formation flying clinic to certified pilots from across the country who want to develop, or sharpen their formation skills. Whether you're brand new to formation flying or looking to get current after a gap, the clinic helps all pilots achieve their goal
Training is conducted entirely to FFI (Formation Flying Inc.) standards, led by experienced formation pilots from within KC Flight and the broader formation flying world.
The clinic is as much a social event as it is a training program. Pilots fly in from across the country and spend a few days flying together, debriefing together, and sharing a love of formation flight that most people in their home airports don't fully understand.
The friendships and connections made at the KC Flight clinic tend to outlast the weekend. Many pilots come back year after year, not just to train, but because the community itself is worth the trip.
2025 Recap
New and experienced formation pilots were able to fly with along side each other, gaining invaluable experiences and learning new techniques and perspectives. This unique opportunity fostered an environment of learning, mentorship, and forming new bonds between pilots; what formation flight is all about.
On April 25-27, KC Flight hosted the 2025 formation flight clinic at Sedalia Regional Airport (KDMO). Pilots from across the US traveled to Missouri to sharpen their formation skills and train the next generation of formation fliers.
The weekend was filled with introducing new pilots to the art of formation flight, experienced pilots refining and mastering their skills, & connecting with new and familiar faces. The clinic also offered good food, great discussions, and lots of flying time. KC Flight thanks all participants, instructors, and volunteers who made this clinic possible.
Through these formation clinics, KC Flight's safe & precise formation standards will continue to be taught and executed for flyovers and airshows nationwide. Stay tuned for more information on the next clinic date.

On Friday, April 25th, Craig '2B' Wilcox led the clinic's ground school, where new formation pilots were taught the basics of safe and precise formation flight, including positioning, maneuvers, hand signals, and procedures. Saturday morning, pilots were in the air, practicing and applying skills they have learned here.
On Sunday, an all-up flight was briefed, where all FFI carded pilots were be able to participate, however, ceilings were too low for the flight, and was canceled.
Our 5th Formation flight clinic was a successful event and weekend filled with learning. In the world of aviation, you never stop learning, and this weekend proved just that. Pilots of all experience levels came together to sharpen their skills, and help others build theirs.
